La Salle Prevails in Comeback Victory against F&M

La Salle defeated Franklin and Marshall 14-12 on Thursday for their first win of the season! La Salle led 4-3 after the first quarter on the strength of goals from Mike Ellerson, Chris Cefalo and two from Ben Fallon. La Salle struggled in the second quarter however, scoring 0 goals while giving up 4, going into the halftime break down 7-4.

La Salle turned it around around in the third quarter scoring 5 goals, 2 each from Ben Fallon and Chris Cefalo, with Mike Ellerson contributing 1. Keeper Kyle Manning allowed three goals with 5 saves in the third quarter, and La Salle went into the final quarter trailing by one, 10-9. La Salle kept the momentum up in the fourth quarter, scoring 5 more goals. Ben Fallon scored 2, Chris Cefalo put 1 more in, and Antoinette High scored the game winning goal, her first of the season, with 3:35 left in the game game. Grant Chin put the game beyond reach, with La Salle's final goal on a 1-man advantage with 1:02 left to play. Kyle Manning allowed only 2 goals in the quarter, while making 6 saves. When the final buzzer sounded, La Salle was ahead 14-12, capping a great never say die comeback with a deserved victory.

Kyle Manning ended the game with 16 saves and 12 goals allowed, 2 from man down disadvantages.

On the offensive end, Ben Fallon scored 6 times on 8 shots, Mike Ellerson scored twice on 5 shots, Grant Chin shot once and scored, while Antoinnete High shot twice and scored the game winning goal.

The player of the game award, however, went to Chris Cefalo, who scored 4 times on 6 shots, won all 3 sprints, had several defensive blocks, and who was everywhere at the right time! Congratulations Chris!

And congratulations to the entire team on the win, which moves La Salle to 1-1 on the season. The teams next game is Wednesday, September 23, at the University of Delaware.
